Children of The Andes

Children of The Andes is a UK-registered charity supporting children in the city of Cali, Columbia. There are approximately 1.5 million children displaced in Columbia due to continuing armed conflict. Many children get sick, but medical services are sparse and few are able to travel the long distances in order to get care.

The Hogar de Paso is a temporary residence and complementary care service and is the only free service in the area.

Each year hundreds of children are brought to the Hogar suffering from a variety of conditions from cerebral palsy to heart problems and cancer. The Hogar's staff and volunteers not only provide the children with care and support, but also act as a bridge between hospitals and the children's families, offering advice on available public services, and holding workshops on topics from childcare to income-generation.

The NST Development Trust have made a grant of £500 to support COTA's very effective work.
