Our Lady's Convent High School, Khanyeni, South Africa

In a remote mountain area close to the border with Lesotho, a partnership was formed in 2004 between Khanya Senior Secondary School and Zanyeni Junior Secondary School, creating Our Lady's Convent High School.

After years of poor planning, below-standard teaching and under-investment in these schools, they were both in need of funds and ideas.

The partnership has instigated extra training of teaching staff from both schools, and an exchange programme to give local teaching staff fresh ideas and enthusiasm. In the long term, the partnership intends to rebuild the schools and supply them with water and electricity.

The NST Development Trust have been able to make a grant to the schools to fund the purchase of textbooks and contribute towards the cost structural repairs.
