Christ our Hope Orphanage Centre
Many children in Uganda have access to primary education, but are unable to progress to secondary school because of the cost, or because they have to work. The result is that they leave school with a basic education, but lacking sufficient skills to secure well-paid employment. COHOC have recognised this weakness and have established a vocational training school which equips students with an employable skill.
Currently COHOC have a staff of 19 and are able to provide vocational training for 600 students. Of the students that are currently going through the programme, only a maximum of 80 students are in a position to pay fees. In addition to fees, COHOC are able to sell some of the products that the students make out of school hours.
With only limited income from their products, external support is required. The NST Development Trust has been able to contribute towards this support.
