North South Travel was set up by Terence Khushal Singh, after he retired in 1967 from being a Director of the Government of India Tourist Office in London.
Khushal, as he was known by his friends, chose the name North South Travel after the famous speech by the then Chancellor of Germany, Willy Brandt, who pointed
out that the greatest division in the world was not between the global superpowers, but between North and South – rich and poor. Not wanting to waste his experience in the South, Khushal was inspired to open a travel agency that would generate funds for developing countries.

|
Khushal's travel agency thus became a charity, and since then has supported many worthwhile projects all over the world.
The office, run by a devoted team of travel industry professionals, has two purposes:
- To provide travelling customers with a friendly, efficient, competitive service
- To generate funds to support grassroots development projects in the poorest parts of the world.
